Really fantastic eerie stuff by James Ensor...who know?! Nightmarish and creepy yet lively, colorful, and whimsical! He lived from 1860-1949, which surprises me because it' s so surreal. He was very inspired by Durer and Goya...who I adore for the same reasons he probably did: spoooky stuff. It's surprising i like this because light and confectionary is usually my scene. Skeletons just fascinate me.

Skol Cabelos

Matt Rota does some really compelling pen and ink and watercolor work for The New York Times, LA Times and other big deals. His work is always haunting, sometimes disturbing and eerie, but I love the sketchy clarity of some of the drawings. There is something really old worldly about his style. The faces are clear, but nothing else is.

Oh yes, I thought I might add another strange thing that happened to me last night. So, I am on a badass intramural softball team known as "Team Nessies" and last night we played some Frat/Sorority ridden team of cheaters (I'm a little bitter and you will soon know why). Well, I was playing catcher (which is terrifying but you start to get used to things being flung at you after a while), and the other team trying to pump up the batter...so someone decided to yell, "Hit a homerun and then karate chop the catcher!!!". I am still trying to figure this one out. Why do I deserve to be karate chopped?I was already hit in the knee, an ovary, middle finger and stomach (I think I have internal bleeding) with a really hard softball (which is NOT an oxymoron by the way). I was doing probably the least threatening person out there in my little orange hat with the pom-pom, OK GO shirt, lavender hoodie and under armor tights. If someone could explain how karate chopping catchers is at all relevant to softball, I would be most grateful.

Oh and to explain the title of this post, my mom just sent me a text message that said exactly that. What is my mom doing in a cloister? I am starting to worry.

Well hello my two fans, I am back with some insights into life in general. First lets start with things you should try: black and white mocha frappuchinos (yes, sadly my Starbucks addiction has returned), thai iced tea (that stuff is amazing), taking three naps in one day (you feel worthless...but so rested), finding decent guacamole in Harrisonburg (on second thought, don't. You'll go insane...but if you do find it let me know), living in a constant state of soul searching (it gets exhausting, hence the naps).

Okay so, here are some things you may never have known could happen but seem to happen to me. 1.) Robert E. Lee apparently enjoys D Hall (our all you can eat dining buffet), I have photo evidence (the history major in me came out and I sorta stalked him around) that the South is in fact rising again...and at a buffet (so unexpected). I also heard Mr. E. Lee say, "If only our troops had such fine amenities." Well...this guy was really into his reenacting...or there is a slight chance he was the real deal. Moving on. 2) You can get caught stealing carrots and celery from D Hall. I did. It was a terrifying experience and

only on my second try stealing food. Honestly, if some poor girl is stealing fucking carrots there is a chance she needs them. There are much larger and more expensive things to take out of there. The sad part was I was stealing them for some adorable baby rabbits I found near my dorm. 3) Random disgruntled employees telling me their life stories. I guess I look like I want to know. 4) My mom and brother are ancestor hunting in Pennsylvania. What this really means is that they are taking a trip to peruse graveyards. 5) My friend Nora calls and says, "Come outside I look like Stonewall Jackson." She did

. She is in makeup class and is really good at it. That facial hair looked real. 6) There are actually like 5 normal pictures of me on facebook...people probably either think I am a lobster, an old woman, growing facial hair or maybe we'll make it easy and say insane. I think that is sufficient for now.

Lets move onto things you should know about my life...why? Because I am telling you. I think I am slowly moving out of that funk I was in for a while which is good news. I am shy...and I think I am fine with that. New to my life: happiness, new bands, drawing, new boots soon, freedom and a lot of good thinking time. Tomorrow, I am taking measures to become an art history major (which I am excited about). So good stuff.

This probably would have been more appropriate last month.

This thing is acting up...so I will have to post some pictures later.

It's really been quite a while since my last post, but hopefully I will keep it up. I have been going through a lot of things recently that have been really thought provoking, so it might be good to dump some of those things here. Lately, I have been feeling the lack of one true passion in my life and it is starting to scare the hell out of me. Today the thought occurred to me to just start picking back up things I used to love to do, like drawing, photography and writing for example. Maybe if I just try to work on some of those things, I will become more aware of other things that interest me. Being on break is giving me a lot of time to think about these things. With my conservation internship all lined up, I am not afraid of having some sort of direction that I am happy to go towards, I just need to find more things that make me truly happy. I am even considering learning to sew. Even though the last couple of months have been really hard, I am coming out of them a lot stronger and ready to learn more about myself.

New sort of obsession! Vampire Weekend is pretty awesome. They have such a unique sound. Its sort of like...bottled up amazing with a catchy beat and clever lyrics. According to Tim, MTV picked them up...I will ignore his music snobbery and enjoy the heck out of them. (sorry T.) Islands also has a new song out, The Arm (new cd soon? I hope so). guson's website a few months ago, but I went back today and I re-fell in love. I think her quirky style and use of embroidery is so much fun! I want to order that necklace so bad...she is based in the UK though.
